Privacy

The Local Builder ("we", "us") is a residential building practice based in Adelaide, SA. This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

Enquiries. When you use the contact form we receive the name, email address, phone number and message you enter. We use them to reply to you about your project and for no other purpose. Submissions are delivered through Netlify Forms, our hosting provider's form service, which screens them for spam using Akismet. If you email or call us instead, we receive the details you give us in the same way.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are from, and what devices they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell returning visitors from new ones; Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Plausible does not use cookies and does not identify individuals. Neither is used to build a profile of you.

Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records basic technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser and the page requested, for security and reliability. These are kept briefly and not combined with enquiry data.

Where it is stored

Our website and contact form are hosted by Netlify in the United States. Google Analytics data is processed by Google in the United States and other countries, and Plausible data in the European Union. Enquiries are also kept in our email. This means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, by providers that protect it under their own security and privacy commitments.

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your project and to meet our record-keeping obligations, and we delete them sooner if you ask.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your details. We don't share enquiry information with anyone outside The Local Builder except the service providers above, who process it on our behalf. We don't send marketing email unless you ask us to.

Cookies

Google Analytics is the only part of this site that sets cookies. You can block or clear them in your browser settings; the site works without them. Instructions for opting out of Google Analytics across all sites are at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
